We recently dined at Lers Ros Thai in San Francisco, and I can confidently say it lives up to its reputation. I've visited both the Larkin and Hayes Valley locations, and each time I've been impressed with the bold flavors, authentic presentation, and extensive menu offerings--far beyond your average Thai restaurant. One thing that stands out is their dedication to real Thai cooking. The spice levels are no joke--if you ask for spicy, be prepared! I ordered the crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli and the green curry with duck, and both dishes were incredibly flavorful, with rich, layered sauces that hit all the right notes. The meat was tender, and the vegetables were crisp and ffresh.we also got the pork shoulder, frog legs, and multiple noodle dishes, thier fried rice is out of this world. Service is typically fast and efficient, though during busy hours it can feel a little rushed. Still, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they're quick to offer recommendations. The ambiance isn't fancy, but it feels casual and welcoming, perfect for a date night or a quick dinner with friends. The Hayes Valley location has more of a cozy vibe, while Larkin feels more energetic and bustling. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. I also appreciate the more adventurous options on the menu like frog legs or venison, which make the experience more exciting for those who like to try something new. Overall, Lers Ros is a standout in the San Francisco food scene. Whether you're a Thai food enthusiast or just looking for a satisfying meal, this place deserves a spot on your list.
FANTASTIC DINING IN HAYES VALLEY! I'm quite particular with Thai cooking & Lers Ros stands out as one of the best. Service is friendly & efficient. Location can't be beat. Bathrooms are clean. And the general vibe is welcoming. VERY fresh food with spot-on seasoning. My only gripe: no vegetarian nam khao which we seem to only find in Banff Canada
Made a reservation for 3 for 6:45 PM on a Sunday evening but honestly did not need it, there were plenty of tables available both inside and outside. It's a nice restaurant with white tablecloths and kind servers, and the menu is rather extensive. The waitstaff were very attentive and refilled our waters often. I got the Pad See Ew with Chicken. It was good! The noodles were well-sauced and chewy, and the chicken was in bigger pieces which I liked. Pretty good Thai spot! Next time I would want to try one of their curries.
My boyfriend and I had been craving Thai food, so we decided to check this place out based on my friend's recommendation. We made a 7PM reservation on a Friday, and the staff was able to seat us right upon our arrival. They were friendly and attentive. Our table was right next by the window facing the street. To be honest, the space was very tight and we felt pretty crammed. The tables next to and behind us were positioned quite close. Here is our order: Crab Roll Cake: Crispy and served hot. Great appetizer. Beef Pat Kee Mow (spicy pan-fried flat noodle with basil, bell peppers, bean sprout, yellow onion): I tried this dish for the first time! Very flavorful and delicious. The spice-level was tolerable for me. Green Curry with Rice: It was spicy and definitely past my spice tolerance level (I have a low spice tolerance). Despite that, I kept going back for more because it was good. Overall, I was not the biggest fan of the ambiance but the food was great! I would come back to try more dishes.
It's my first time eating at this place. Went here to grab a lunch with my coworkers after a work meeting. I didn't edit the photos I uploaded here as I wanted for customers and future customers to see the actual food they'll get when their orders arrive. I must say that this place is probably one of the best thai place I've ever had. As for someone who used to be a line cook in a thai restaurant, I am giving this restaurant a 5star. The service was great! The ambiance was nice too and the place was clean. Their food, all the food we ordered were all excellent! It's a little pricey tho, but it's worth it and a must try! Will definitely come back here!
Appetizers were phenomenal (fried roll was delicious!!). I got the Kuay Jub (square rice noodle soup) after recommendation from my Thai friend. I thought the crispy pork belly was fantastic--super tender and crispy skin was delicious. The pork entrails were not particularly appetizing though, as it was chewy and lacked a bit of flavor. I was disappointed by the noodles too--it was a large clump and I felt the noodles were not cooked enough, and the overall bowl of soup wasn't hot enough We were a large (and rowdy) party of 12 people, and the staff were super accommodating, even letting us keep the cake in their fridge while we ate our meals
I came here on a Friday night and only waited a minute or two for a table. Yay! I was in the corner of the restaurant though so I think they forgot about us for a bit as we had to wait a bit to order / flag down a waiter. I got the duck noodle soup and crab meat fried rice. I really enjoyed the crab meat fried rice. It wasn't too salty but still flavorful. The ratio of rice to egg to crab meat as really good. The cucumbers were a refreshing touch. I wasn't as big of a fan of the duck noodle soup but the duck meat was tender and noodles were good texture. It was still good, I just enjoyed the crab meat fried rice more. I would come back to try more dishes as their menu is quite expansive.
